Debunked: Linux OSs and Viruses

May 5th, 2009 by Jeremy

linuxvirus

http://tuxgeek.me/ has a nice post about Linux viruses.  Evidently there are about 30 known Linux viruses which was funny to me considering there are almost 100,000 known viruses for Windows.  I wish more people ran Linux, it is such a great OS.  My favorite quote in the article is: “there’s a Linux antivirus called Clam AntiVirus. Which is completely useless, because finding a Linux virus in the wild is like finding a unicorn in your backyard with a map of Atlantis on its forehead.”

Subtracting out the Thinkpad BIOS display time, that means that Ubuntu 9.04 booted into Firefox in about 17.5 seconds. I think I’m going to have a lot of fun with this hard drive. Oh, and Ubuntu 9.04 looks really interesting too.”  Read more
