I’m doing my best to adhere to my 2010 resolutions, therefore I decided to spin up a new site called OurFavoriteArticles.com.  The website is a social news site modeled off of Digg (powered by Pligg).  I am going to use JeremyPerson.com for blog posts I create and knowing me you can still expect lots of engaging content.  I literally have hundreds of articles I have kept in a file over the years and will slowly start to share them via OurFavoriteArticles.com.

The main reason I launched the site was so I could have a huge archive for everything I found interesting on the web (social bookmarking wasn’t enough in my opinion).  The site also allows you to submit articles you find interesting via the “Submit a New Story” link in the dark green bar.  If you have time I’d encourage you to register for the site, vote, submit new stories, and comment on stories you enjoy.  Don’t forget to provide me with feedback for what I can do to make it better.  I’m still not completely happy with the design but it is coming along.  I have other ideas I want to try out and I’m doing my best to take things one day at a time.  I’d also appreciate it if you would subscribe to the RSS feed if you like what you see.  Hope you enjoy it and don’t worry I’ll still keep things lively here at JeremyPerson.com.

I like the new layout but Twitter, Google Buzz, and Facebook do much of the same thing for me already.

On this week’s TWIT they mentioned MonoPrice.com which I hadn’t heard about.  Evidently I’ve been missing out so either you haven’t told me about it or everyone I know hasn’t heard of it either (which leads me to share it with you).  They sell home theater hardware, cables, adapters, video and audio switches, networking, security, accessories, and ink and toner for very reasonable prices.

I unsubscribed to Groupon.com’s daily emails and instead opted to subscribe to their RSS feed. I found the page which resulted upon unsubscribing hilarious (note there is no sound).

We all know you can use Google Docs to collaborate on a document but have you tried TypeWith.Me yet?  It allows you to instantly collaborate on a document with one click of a mouse and what makes it brilliant in my mind is the other person you are collaborating with won’t need a Google account to use it!

Ad.ly provides analytics for your Twitter account(s).  My followers are 38% engaged, 74% male, 24% female, and are located throughout the US.

WordCount™ is an artistic experiment in the way we use language. It presents the 86,800 most frequently used English words, ranked in order of commonness. Each word is scaled to reflect its frequency relative to the words that precede and follow it, giving a visual barometer of relevance. The larger the word, the more we use it. The smaller the word, the more uncommon it is.  For instance if the word Jeremy was in a popularity contest I would be ranked #7,521.

I just discovered Brizzly.com the other night which essentially is a site that makes Twitter much more usable.  It takes your Twitter account information and aggregates your feed into a cleaner UI/interface.  The site is currently available by invite only.  I signed up and it took a week or two to get an invitation code.  It features keyboard shortcuts much like Google Reader which I love.  So far I’m loving it.
