Have you checked out FoodSpotting.com yet? I just did and it is pretty interesting. According to their website their site “makes finding and sharing food recommendations easier: Instead of reading and writing reviews of restaurants, you can share photos of specific foods you recommend and see what’s good wherever you go.

Finding recommendations is as easy as looking in a bakery window and seeing what looks good. You can discover foods around you, find whatever you’re craving and see what’s good at a particular restaurant.

Sharing a recommendation is as easy as taking a picture of your food, saying what it was and where you found it. You can earn virtual tips and real rewards for sharing things others love.”

“Consider the mosquito borne disease malaria. This year, malaria will kill over one million people, over 80% of which will be children. Great Britain used to have malaria. In North America, malaria was epidemic and there are still a handful of infections each year. In Africa malaria kills over 100 people per hour. In Russia, amidst the corruption of the 1990s, malaria re-established itself. What is the difference between these cases?

We know how to prevent malaria. The science is universal. The difference is good governance.

Put another way, unresponsive or corrupt government, through malaria alone, causes a children’s “9/11″ every day.

It is only when the people know the true plans and behavior of their governments that they can meaningfully choose to support them. Historically, the most resilient forms of open government are those where publication and revelation are protected. Where that protection does not exist, it is our mission to provide it.

In Kenya, malaria was estimated to cause 20% of all deaths in children under five. Before the Dec 2007 national elections, WikiLeaks exposed $3,000,000,000 of Kenyan corruption and swung the vote by 10%. This lead to enormous changes in the constitution and the establishment of a more open government — one many hundreds of reforms catalyzed by WikiLeaks.

We believe WikiLeaks is the strongest way we have of generating the true democracy and good governance on which all mankind’s dreams depend.”

I’m doing my best to adhere to my 2010 resolutions, therefore I decided to spin up a new site called OurFavoriteArticles.com. The website is a social news site modeled off of Digg (powered by Pligg). I am going to use JeremyPerson.com for blog posts I create and knowing me you can still expect lots of engaging content. I literally have hundreds of articles I have kept in a file over the years and will slowly start to share them via OurFavoriteArticles.com.

The main reason I launched the site was so I could have a huge archive for everything I found interesting on the web (social bookmarking wasn’t enough in my opinion). The site also allows you to submit articles you find interesting via the “Submit a New Story” link in the dark green bar. If you have time I’d encourage you to register for the site, vote, submit new stories, and comment on stories you enjoy. Don’t forget to provide me with feedback for what I can do to make it better. I’m still not completely happy with the design but it is coming along. I have other ideas I want to try out and I’m doing my best to take things one day at a time. I’d also appreciate it if you would subscribe to the RSS feed if you like what you see. Hope you enjoy it and don’t worry I’ll still keep things lively here at JeremyPerson.com.

ChainStoreReaction.com believes “Slavery is a global problem that requires a global solution. We believe that the solution requires consumers and producers to work together. As consumers, we are in essence the last link in the supply chain. By the pure law of physics, we have the leverage to PULL that chain and create a reaction that leads all the way down to the very first link. If we as consumers don’t pull that chain, no one will.

One of the most strategic battlefields of the 21st Century Abolitionist Movement is the marketplace. Everyone has a role to play, and your consumption is a deft weapon, that when used properly, can elicit tangible and viral freedom. We believe one of the most effective penalties you can offer a producer who is not operating with transparency, is to choose a more transparent competitor.

Because we purchase our products in public, we choose to discuss a way forward in this issue, in public. Therefore, we are initiating an open conversation on this site that allows us to voice our demand of SlaveFREE products, and in turn hear what companies are doing on the issue.”

WordCount™ is an artistic experiment in the way we use language. It presents the 86,800 most frequently used English words, ranked in order of commonness. Each word is scaled to reflect its frequency relative to the words that precede and follow it, giving a visual barometer of relevance. The larger the word, the more we use it. The smaller the word, the more uncommon it is. For instance if the word Jeremy was in a popularity contest I would be ranked #7,521.

Check out some of the following I’ve tried:

The = #1

Me = #72

God = #376

Safeway = #22,415

California = #4024

Illinois = #21,125 (for Jill)

Dog = #1276

Cat = #2,532

Man = #142

Woman = #393

His = #27

Her= #36

Love = #383

Hate = #3,107

Basketball = #19,433

Baseball = #12,548

Live = 561

Die = 1,840

Want to try it? Check this out…

I just discovered Brizzly.com the other night which essentially is a site that makes Twitter much more usable. It takes your Twitter account information and aggregates your feed into a cleaner UI/interface. The site is currently available by invite only. I signed up and it took a week or two to get an invitation code. It features keyboard shortcuts much like Google Reader which I love. So far I’m loving it.
