I didn’t learn this until yesterday but after doing some Googling I found out you can setup GNOME within Ubuntu to have templates setup for new file types. In Windows at work I’m used to navigating to a directory and right-clicking to add a new Word or Excel document to a directory. In Ubuntu I was missing that so I learned you can save a blank file in the Templates directory of your home folder and then when you right-click you will have under your “Create Document” category the templates you already have setup. “A 35-year old Sicilian first showed up at a police station on Thursday asking to be arrested because he preferred spending the night in prison rather than with his family, but was rebuffed because he had not committed a crime, the Agi news agency said. The man immediately went to a tobacco shop next door, where he threatened the owner with a box cutter as he grabbed a few sweets and a packet of gum. He then waited until police arrived to arrest him for robbery, the news agency said. ” Source: Reuters.com
OK this is just disgusting but I do love my Pepsi. From YouTube: “Disgusted? Most people don’t realize how easy it is to gain weight from drinking sugary sodas, juice drinks, sport drinks and sweetened tea and coffee drinks. Just one 20-ounce bottle of soda can pack 250 calories and more than 16 teaspoons of sugar. Is the lemon-flavored iced tea any better? Not by much with 210 calories and 14½ teaspoons of sugar. Sugar-sweetened beverages add hundreds of calories to your diet each day. Don’t drink yourself fat. Try water. It’s good.”
Jeremy: "oh good I can watch the Tournament of Roses Parade!"
Jeremy: "FAIL!"
It seems like only Google is able to stream video on the web correctly these days. What does it say about the reliability of the web if websites aren’t able to scale to meet the demand of viewers? If a national event happened similar to 9/11 and we all needed to get information on the web in one location would it work? I say no if it has a database behind it or has multimedia content. We need a better solution for serving up pages in a reliable and scalable manner. I just want my parade! I guess I’ll have to turn that thing on in my living room called a “TV”…huh.
