“We often hear about U.S. teachers being paid poorly for all the work they do to educate children. But did you know that 63 percent of teachers report buying food for the classroom each month with their own money? That’s just one statistic from a report put out by Share Our Strength, which surveyed teachers across the country about hunger in America’s classrooms. You can download the full Teachers report and learn more surprising facts about hungry kids and the teachers trying to help them at the Share Our Strength site. Share Our Strength also interviewed two teachers in New York City about their personal experiences with students who have come to depend on them for enough food to get them through the day.”
For only $5,500 you could have Han Solo forever entombed in your desk. Seriously though, how threatening and strange would this be to walk into someone’s office and see this?
Why do we have sign holders any way? Don’t get me wrong this guy actually gets your attention and I don’t even want to know how long he had to practice to do this but aren’t we becoming numb to this form of marketing? Sure they used to get our attention when it was the “new” thing but does anyone actually say to themselves “hey that sign person is telling me to turn or do something, I’d better do it”? That being said, if you are into this form of marketing this guy is worth every penny. I mean the company he is advertising for is on my blog now right? You know you’ve made it when you get on jeremperson.com let me tell you. :) Or maybe I’m just jealous I can’t do this…
John Lee of Babbacombe, Devon, cheated the hangman’s noose three times in 1885. Sentenced to death for the murder of his employer, Lee survived because on each occasion the trap-door on the gallows failed to open, even though the mechanism was tested before and after and found to be in perfect working order. The authorities knew when they were beaten and Lee’s sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. Source: http://www.baconbabble.com/
A “White Elephant” dates back to the ancient kings of Siam who wanted to punish courtiers without actually appearing to do so. Their ploy was to give the offender a rare albino elephant, knowing that it was an offer which dare not be refused. The poor man was therefore left with something he didn’t want and couldn’t afford to keep. Source: http://www.baconbabble.com/
