I thought it would be fun to post some analytics this morning of my blog.  Lets be honest here people I love to blog and I can’t comment on why other people do it but I like it because it lets me share things I love with the world.  Obviously everyone has already thought about this but my site allows me the ability to literally communicate with anyone who has Internet access and 15-20 years ago you had to be in the newspaper, television, or radio business to communicate with large scale audiences.  Last year my goal was to try and attract 100 average visits a day and this year it is 200 but then I was thinking why stop there?  My new goal is 1000 a day which would be awesome.  Let’s run through some of the numbers:

• 18,358 visits since I put Google Analytics on the site
• 61,113 page views
• 3 page average view per visit
• 12.54% bounce rate (people left after just hitting the homepage)
• People spend 2 minutes on average visiting the site
• 81% of the people who visit are new visitors
• July 28th, 2008 my site spiked to 752 visits in one day
• A whopping 12 people subscribe to my site’s RSS feed

So I woke up early this morning and was working on my computer.  I like to sit in front of a space heater and blog (doesn’t get much better than that).  I had a pillow on the floor with me when I started feeling something moving under the pillow.  I ignored it after 2-3 times of feeling it until I lifted up the pillow to discover a lizard was under it which scared me good as I was not exactly expecting to see that by any means.  Here is the video of my encounter and please note that no lizards were harmed during the making of this video so it is PETA friendly.  OK I couldn’t help saying damn, I guess I was still stunned I was laying on top of a lizard…
