Telonu.com

December 27th, 2008 by Jeremy

telonu

Techcrunch just wrote about a new site called telonu.com (tell-on-u) which lets you rant and rave about your company and its people.  I don’t think Corporate America and the general populous gets it yet but with advancing technologies you and your company are going to be exposed for what you are.  Therefore great companies and people will do well and companies/people that have things to hide likely won’t.  Customer Service would be a good area to be in going forward in my opinion.  You are starting to hear about the power of Yelp and other services which give the consumers a voice to the world.  Hopefully companies will realize this emerging trend.  There are of course other sites like glassdoor.com which also let you rate your company.  Interesting huh?

Navigating My Site

December 27th, 2008 by Jeremy

paging

OK everyone I put paging into my site to reduce the page lengths a few months ago and in talking with people I can tell people are either not seeing it or are confused by it.  I typically display about 15 posts on the homepage and then you can click to go to the next page (the page you are on will be highlighted).  Additionally you can navigate my posts by category in the left hand navigation of the site.  If I can help make things more usable let me know.  I’m thinking maybe I can bump the font up a little to make the paging larger which may help.

The Wrestler

December 27th, 2008 by Jeremy

I’m not a huge “movie buff” by any means.  Movies for the most part these days really stink (sorry Hollywood but they do).  With advancing technologies I’m hoping the Internet helps get independent movie makers a shot at getting their film to the public.  I saw the trailor for this movie and could tell it is one I think I would like.

The types of movies I enjoy are:

  • Documentaries (Who Killed the Electric Car, Michael Moore films, Planet Earth)
  • Remakes of true events (Blackhawk Down, Saving Private Ryan)
  • Ganster or Mafia flicks (Sopranos, Casino, Goodfellas, Scarface)
  • Feel good movies (Forrest Gump, Doc Hollywood)
  • Comedies (Dumb and Dummer, Office Space)
  • Character development (Rain Man, American Beauty)
  • Animated films (Madagascar, Shrek)
  • When I am “shocked” by things for impact (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Scarface)

Web 2.0 & Privacy: Gary Vaynerchuck’s View

December 27th, 2008 by Jeremy

Gary, I completely agree with you.  If you are a good person you have nothing to worry about with new technologies and if you have things you want to hide, good luck because you won’t be able to hide it for long.  Technology has helped me learn things about people I didn’t want to learn, find old friends, connect with others, and research people before I met them.  I have a very different outlook on privacy and “openess” than most people though.  I am really, really open and don’t have anything I won’t talk about but I know others are not that way and I have no problem with it.  So far I don’t think anyone or anything has “invaded” my privacy.  For instance I know a lot of people were up in arms about Google Street view.  If you are not familiar with Google Street View it is basically a car with a camera that drives down streets and takes 360 degree images of everything.  So if you go to Google Maps you can type in the address of your home and you may have a Google Street view of your entire street/community which I thought was cool.  It helped that I had just mowed my lawn and had the house looking really nice though.  :)  So has technology invaded your privacy yet or what are your thoughts?
