Snow is Melting in Portland
My dad sent me this picture this morning of the office parking lot he works at. Hard to believe just a few days ago there was feet of snow and now it is almost all gone.

I love Zappos.com (online shoe company) because they are a company that treats their employees well and thinks outside the box. Not to mention they have fanatical customer service (Google it). Their CEO/COO have a blog where they explain that they learned everything they know about business from poker. I think this one is a must read. OK this has to be my last post for a while, I gotta get to work on other things.

I got some gift cards for Christmas so I decided to go to Best Buy on Friday (saw my boss Dan who was there too) to get a 1TB hard drive. I have risked not backing up my files for way too long so I decided in 2009 I would be more careful with my data. I don’t know about you but my electronic data is probably my most valuable “material possession” I have so for me not to back it up was pretty neglegent on my part. When my future ex-wife and I went to Hawaii a few years ago I thought she was going to kill me because I put our digital pictures on a hard drive that crashed days after taking them off our camera. I luckily was able to recover them from the memory sticks after doing some serious Googling (imminent death tends to make a person do whatever it takes to find the answer). I backup all of my pictures to a Flickr account (some are public but most a private) but my home videos were not backed up and they are invaluable. I’m thinking about storing the hard drive in a safe deposit box or an offsite location just in case a fire or theft occurs. I have so many hard drives it is rediculous but I am a storage hog. Don’t forget to backup your files everyone…
